1.4 Promote emotional well-being


1. Explain the meaning of transitions that children go through and then, draw a table showing:

- the various types transitions and significant events that children go through

- describe their emotional experiences during the transition and the effects it has in the short-term and long-term.

- show how a early years practitioner would support the children and families during the transition


2. Imagine a child who is new to the nursery is unable to settle in. The child is feeling lonely and isolated and cries alot.

a) Show how you as a staff in the nursery would work in partnership with the parents to help settle the child into the setting.

b) Read the policy in your setting to find the settling-in period and the settling-in process.

c) Describe how you would as a practitioner work with the children to promote their emotional well-being.
